About this Site

This site is a collection of blog articles I’ve written since 2019 focusing on aspects of Identity and Access Management, specifically IGA and PAM. Most are Okta product-related, as I’ve been working with Okta products since late 2020.

This is my personal blog. The articles written here were written by me (but have appeared on other sites).

The articles here have been written over a long period and often the features presented in the articles have changed and matured. I don’t tend to go back over older content up update it. As always, check current product documentation.

About Me

I’ve been in IT since the late 80’s, starting out working for a retailer on the mainframe as a Cobol programmer then a CICS systems programmer. I then went to the dark side and became a systems management specialist in a Unix sysadmin team.

This led me to get involved in a Tivoli project in about 1998. I took a job with IBM in their Tivoli division. Somehow I became a product specialist in the emerging Tivoli Security space, covering products like IBM Identity Manager, IBM Access Manager (WebSEAL), IBM Directory Server and IBM Directory Integrator. This stint involved time in Professional Services, fly-in CritSit support and then Pre-Sales. Tivoli Security morphed into IBM Security where I spent most of my time in pre-sales and technical enablement.

After 22 years I joined Okta and have been there since, first in pre-sales and later in product acceleration.

Throughout the years I have remained a product specialist and have loved to write and publish. From early MQ Series document produced on mainframe systems, through various IBM Redbooks to the blog you see here.
